For me, this project wasn't just a renovation—it was a love story. Some houses just ask you to love them, and this 1904 home was absolutely one of them.
To fully appreciate the transformation, it helps to see the timeline. The "Before" photos capture the house exactly as it was listed in 2023. Before I arrived, the previous team took on the incredibly difficult, expensive work of relocating the staircase, opening up the layout, and laying beautiful new floors.
If you watch the video, you can see how the home looked when I walked in: a wide-open, undefined space prepped for an ultra-modern concept. Standing there however, I felt a strong pull to take the design in a different direction. I wanted to give the home its 1904 soul back.
I immediately got to work reshaping the architecture. As you can see in the "After" photos, we built out new rooms, brought in massive structural openings, and added elegant arches to give the floor plan purpose and flow. Beyond the walls, I took on a complete systems overhaul, ensuring the entire house was rewired and replumbed from top to bottom.
Working alongside the floors that were left behind, I hand-picked every single color, texture, finish, and fixture to breathe life back into these spaces. My vision was to create a Modern Victorian—a home that honors its historic roots while seamlessly wrapping you in warmth and calm energy.
The heart of this home's story is the fireplace. The original 1904 brick had been plastered over decades ago, and right before we bought the house, a feature wall had been framed out for an electric insert. I had a gut feeling something special was hiding behind it. Our very first swing into the drywall revealed... just another wall. But I refused to give up. We grabbed a hammer, broke through that second layer, and finally uncovered the stunning, original 1904 brick that has now been lovingly restored and now anchors the living room.
As you can see from this final video on this property, I have never been more proud of a transformation, and I absolutely love what I’ve been able to accomplish with this home.
